Mini Jhumkas Are Having a Moment

Wedding season in Pakistan means back-to-back events — mehndi, nikkah, baraat, walima — often within the same week. Heavy statement jhumkas look stunning for one big function, but wearing them through four or five events in a row is a different story. That's part of why smaller, lighter jhumkas have become such a regular sight this season.

Comfort is the main driver. Multi-day wedding functions mean hours of standing, dancing, and photos — a heavy jhumka that felt fine for one evening starts to pull by the second or third event. Mini versions keep the traditional silhouette everyone loves without the weight, which is exactly why they're showing up more at mehndis and smaller daytime functions where guests want to look festive but stay comfortable.

Traditional mini jhumkas usually come in gold or oxidised silver alone. Resin opens up colour — a jhumka that's poured to match your mehndi outfit exactly, or set with pressed flowers instead of stones, is something you won't find in a regular jewelry shop. It's also naturally lighter than solid metal, which only adds to the comfort factor that makes mini jhumkas appealing in the first place.

A useful way to think about it: bold, full-size jhumka for the one function that calls for a statement piece — usually the walima or your own event if you're the bride — and mini jhumka for everything else, including mehndi, dholki, or attending as a guest. It keeps you looking put-together across every event without a single pair feeling like too much.

Because mini jhumka pieces are smaller, they're also more affordable to collect a few of — ours start around Rs 1,250, compared to Rs 2,500 for a full-size pair. That makes it realistic to have a small rotation in different colours for wedding season, rather than reaching for the same pair at every function.
