Monsoon-Proofing Your Resin Jewelry

We've already written a general guide to caring for resin jewelry, but Pakistan's monsoon season brings its own specific challenges — thick humidity, sudden downpours, and the constant swing between air-conditioned rooms and muggy outdoor air. None of it is dangerous for a well-made piece, but a few extra habits go a long way during these months.

Humid air alone won't damage cured resin, but storing a piece while it's still slightly damp — from rain, sweat, or a humid room — can dull its shine over time. Before putting a piece away, wipe it with a soft dry cloth. If you can, drop a small silica gel packet into your jewelry box during monsoon months; the same ones that come inside shoeboxes work fine.

Moving between a cold, air-conditioned room and hot, humid air outside can cause tiny condensation on any polished surface — resin included. It's harmless, but wipe your piece dry once you notice it rather than letting moisture sit against the metal findings, which are more sensitive to prolonged dampness than the resin itself.

A quick splash of rain isn't a crisis. Pat the piece dry with a soft cloth as soon as you can, and avoid tucking a damp piece straight into an airtight box — let it sit out for a few minutes to fully dry first. What matters is not leaving it wet for hours, not the rain itself.

Keep your jewelry box somewhere dry rather than a humid bathroom or a windowsill that catches rain spray. If your city has been especially damp, an occasional airing-out on a dry, shaded day helps more than leaving pieces sealed away for weeks.
