How to Care for Your Resin Jewelry

Handmade resin jewelry is more durable than it looks, but it's still a handcrafted material — a little care goes a long way toward keeping it looking as clear and colourful as the day it arrived. Here's what we tell every customer.

Prolonged exposure to strong sunlight or heat — think a hot car dashboard, or a sunny windowsill — can cause resin to yellow slightly over time. Store your pieces somewhere cool and shaded when you're not wearing them.

Spray perfume and apply lotion or hand sanitizer before putting on your jewelry, not after. Alcohol-based products in particular can dull the glossy finish of resin over repeated contact.

While a quick splash won't damage a piece, we'd still recommend removing your resin jewelry before showering, swimming, or washing dishes. Chlorine and prolonged soaking aren't good for the finish or the metal findings.

Resin can scratch if it rubs against harder materials like metal charms or gemstones. Keep pieces in a soft pouch, a lined jewelry box, or simply separated from each other in a drawer, rather than tossed together in one pile.

If a piece needs cleaning, a soft cloth lightly dampened with water is usually all it needs. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners — they're unnecessary and can dull the surface rather than help it.

Resin is hard once cured, but it can crack under a sharp impact, like being dropped on a tile floor. Treat it the way you'd treat glass jewelry — sturdy for everyday wear, but not indestructible.
